ABOUT

Izaac Enciso (Mexico City, 1980) is an artist based in Los Angeles, CA and Mexico, whose work utilizes samples of interpersonal subjects among global contexts such as the climate change, the migrant crisis, economy and power, gender and race equality, pop culture among others. Enciso works across disciplines including photography, film, sculpture and music merging different mediums to knead his projects. His research based work, described as abstract and conceptual, feeds from his field work by documenting and investigating in locations, spaces and social groups with iconic identities like architectural megastructures, alternative construction sites and remote and isolated subcultures. Formally, his work intends to expand perception where aesthetic research and design are at the core of his exploratory practice which constantly carries an underlying spiritual subtext.

Enciso has exhibited his work at different galleries in the US, Europe and China, BANK Gallery, Shanghai; Rubber Factory and Elizabeth Warren Gallery in New York, ONCA Gallery in the UK, among others, and his work has been published in fine art catalogs, international magazines and trade journals around the world. His book SYMBOLS was launched at the LA Art Book Fair at the MOCA Geffen in Los Angeles in 2016, CA. Through his work, Enciso has won awards and accolades in both the commercial and the fine art world which has helped him being granted an O-1 Visa in the USA (2016-2019) under the sponsorship of the gallery Visual Artist Group. Enciso attended business, advertising and film university and graduate schools in Mexico and Spain and he has continued to expand his education through several certificates of advanced studies, courses and continuing education in art history, photography, film, music and sustainability in the USA and Mexico.

Commercially Enciso has worked as a freelance designer & art director, photographer and music video director.

In 2012 Studio Izaac Enciso was established as a personal space for artistic research and practice and has recently opened its doors as a collaborative space with individuals, companies and institutions from other disciplines to creatively articulate collaborative projects.

Izaac Enciso lives and works in Los Angeles, CA and Mexico.
